Sock Stash

Well I finally did it, counted it all up and took one big picture....not as bad as I thought actually... I am still going to keep my self imposed diet though for personal and financial reasons. But here is the pic of it all laid out -

If I used it all for socks, ie its fingerweight or sport, superwash and/or with a nylon blend, meant for socks, I have enough for 84 pairs. Take out what is earmarked and wsa purchased specifically for shawls or scarves and I go down to 72. Still a tad daunting, but I will persevere and it will grow a bit, I still have Wool Girl Sock club and Deadly spins that may add to it, but not more than 2-3 skeins before summer is over I believe.

My self imposed goal - no buying for me, sock yarn that is, until I am down to at least half or roughly 35. Gifting of yarn to me of course doesn't count towards this, lol. Seems daunting, I have a game plan. 52 Pair Plunge will help and so will Summer of Socks (buttons on the bar) contest to get the most socks done in a summer and try to do 52 pair in a year.

I have cast-on my first pair(midnight last night) with some of the ladies from SOS08 on a chat group last night. A Christmas Story, yarn by White Oak Studios, pattern by WoolGirl. toe up, this will be my third sock and hopefully complete toe up pair, fairly easy pattern so should go quick.

Swap goodies from this Week!!

Been a long week, work has been hectic, with sick calls and whiny faculty...

But it has also been a very generous week, swap packages from Knit Tea and Fall into Autumn.

First from my wonderful Knit1Tea2 swapper Ruth that I received last week.

In the box was Apple Pecan Biscotti, very tasty, a variety of yummy tea packets that went to work with me. A lovely red note book that went straight into my knitting bag with the lip balm. And the top 2(actually 3) lovely goodies were the adorable yarn ball with needles ornament (I had it in my shadow box above the bed but moved to hang over my computer monitor so I can look at it all the time). Last but most certainly not least, the gorgeous red knit washcloth and soap bag with rose Petal soap, smelled it as soon as I opened the box and still keep sniffing it, rose and spicy, love it. Thank You Ruth for a wonderful Tea Swap.

During the course of the week I have also received, the Halloween kit, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown from Wool Girl...

And today after a long day at work I came home to...

So many goodies, from my dear swapper Betsy. Halloween Note pad with a magnet, black kitty note pad, Some wonderful chocolates, Peaches and cream yarn, a pretty new tape measure, pattern book. Halloween dish cloth with the crocheted top to button onto the fridge or stove and then in the two pretty little chinese boxes, a Halloween dishcloth with a pumpkin candle holder and spicy candle and a candy corn pin, and in the autumn one, another dishtowel with the button top in Autumn colors, a lovely pattern dishcloth, soap in lemon verbana and another candle. Thank you Betsy for a wonderful autumn swap!!!

And I also became a proud member of the Wooly Wool Girl Frequent Shopper club. wonderful gift items, New tote bag, Knitting journal, tape measure and some other wonderful little goodies!!! sorry no pics, between Joey and the cats, it was put away rather quickly, barely saved my washclothes. from marauding wild things...

Well off to bed for me, been a long week and will be and even longer weekend.... 6 DAYS UNTIL STITCHES, YIPEEE... goodnight folks...

Two package Day

I was stalking the mailperson... I saw them drive down the other side of the street, that means in 10 mins give or take a couple, he will be deliverying to my side of the street. I was expecting a swap package, didn't now which one, Jane Doe emailed me so, knew it would be this week. And I had some new stuff coming in from Jen at Woolgirl for a baby girl present, got this but in the pink, some Shrek for Joey. Don't know if I will do socks or may be a hat scarf, something that will last a while. Socks I worry he may outgrow them, even though I can lengthen them..... Will have to see what patterns grabs me I guess... And then there was this for me, Lime slushy from Zen Garden. Much better in person. The front door was open, I was standing in the kitchen, watching, listening(mail trucks have a distinct sound), waiting. He pulled up and put stuff in the box and I waited, he hadn't pulled away yet... Then he backed up...huh... ahhh cant get out of the truck parked next to the mailbox. I intercepted him before he was even on the porch. Mine!

But the best was the package from my SITM swapper. Thank You so much Kietha, the Baudelaire socks are gorgeous, this was on my some day list, when I was ready for cables. They are made in this wonderful red colorway, dyed by Keitha herself. I dont want to put any shoes on they are so pretty. I almost cryed when I saw them, I love them so much!! Ok here are the pics....


Also in the package were... A KnitPickers Travel Bag with little wrapped goodies. Wonderful smelling red clover hand and Cuticle salve from JR Watkins(I love apothacaries), gorgeous stitch markers and a big bag of Halloween Peanut M&M's(hidden from hubbie and children) and a skein of tofutsies that will make a wonderful pair of Fall socks.

And loaded with a project already...

Harry Potter Yarns - Woolgirl

Well I received my HP yarn from Wool Girl yesterday, Wonderful service again, and a great sample of some handmade soap Jen carries. Took pics too, worked hard on display and light. Cna't find the @#$% jump cable for the camara. As soon as I find it I will post up pics.

On that note, they are all wonderfull, soft a little squishy and gorgeous colors. I am now ready for the Hogwarts Sock Swap 2(see buttons and signup). and the kids will have there HP socks soon.

In other news I have cast on and have 4" on the first sock for my Sock It to Me pal. the pattern is not as bad as I thought, fairly easy in fact Schaeffer - Anne Mock Cable Twist. Only had to frog once for a mistake but it was only 3 rows and it came back real quick. I hope she likes them.
